What it actually takes to make a dish from the Alinea cookbook (at least for an amateur cook, and I don’t mean that in a negative way)

To keep up the impression that I have a man crush on Grant Achatz (because I really do), here is an interesting article from Jennifer Day of the Chicago Tribune who made a proper dish, unlike what the Alinea at Home woman has been doing, which has been mostly a warm-up most likely planned out so she doesn’t have to buy a whole bunch of shit at once.

Was that really one sentence?

Anyway, most interesting is that the cost for one person to eat the tour menu at Alinea is $225 (wine, tax and tip not included) and it cost this woman $352.02 just to make one dish.  That’s fucking insane.  What’s even more insane is that she ended up buying a bong in the process.
