An unexpected surprise

Last night after our main rush during service I was given a pleasant surprise (as was the sous chef) in the form of a pretty substantial cash bonus for the previous weekend’s effort.

The bonus came direct from the owner – who was on vacation when shit hit the fan last weekend – and he told the two of us that he heard nothing but good things about our efforts in the kitchen.

So that means that my birthday dinner at Blackbird is essentially paid for in a week and a half.  Thanks owner.
